Senapati DEO appeals to exercise right to vote

Senapati, April 25 2024:
On the eve of the second phase election to the 18th Lok Sabha, 2014, Senapati district election officer (DEO) Senapati Mamoni Doley on Thursday appealed to every eligible person to exercise their right to vote.
The DEO conveyed that photo voter slips would not the only identification document for voting as per instruction from ECI as electors sans Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) may produce alternative identity documents such as Aadhaar card, MNRE-GA job card, passbooks with photograph issued by bank/post office, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of labour, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR, Indian passport, pension document with photograph, service identity cards with photograph, official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs and Unique Disability ID (UDID) card.
On the ECI theme 'Making elections, inclusive, accessible and participative', she informed that Persons with Disabilities and persons above 85 years have exercised their right to vote through postal ballot voting on April 16 across the three assembly segments under Senapati district.
DEO also cautioned that any person who threaten any candidate or elector or any other person is punishable with imprisonment of up to one year or with fine or both under Section 171 C of IPC.
She also said that public places including polling stations has been enforced as 'No Smoking and Tobacco Free Zones' under Section 4 of 'The Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act, 2003 (COPTA 2023)'.Mamoni also appealed to Senapati denizens to refrain from taking bribe and in case anybody offers bribe or is having knowledge about the bribe or cases of threat/intimidation of electors, then he or she should inform on toll free number 1950 of Complaint Monitoring Cell or 9436892474, 9436892435, 9436892430 or use Election Commission's CVIGIL app to file complaints of MCC violations.
She further informed all the voters and political parties to facilitate a peaceful election in which voters could cast their vote without any fear.
Meanwhile, polling officials along with security personnel assigned duty for the 18th Lok Sabha, 2024 election in Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency in respect of Senapati district, were dispersed on Thursday from Sanyi Dahrii Sporting Complex, Khabung Karong.
All the three assembly constituencies namely, Karong (ST), Mao (ST) and Tadubi (ST) will be joining the rest of OMPC in phase-2 of the election on Friday.
Altogether 228 polling stations have been set up in the three assembly constituencies of which 81 will be manned by female polling officials and the remaining 147 by men.
Model polling stations have also been set up in each assembly constituency such Taphou Naga, Tobumai and Karong (A).
As per the Final Electoral Roll 2024, there are 1,42,843 voters in Senapati, including 71433 males and 71,410 females.
Ahead of the dispersal of polling teams, the strong room located at the DC office complex was opened at 5 am for moving of EVM and VVPAT to dispersal ground in the presence of AROs, nodal officers, sector officers and representatives of various political parties.
