After being pushed them out from near the gate of the Assembly complex, the agitated women volunteers burnt the effigies of Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the agitation, Padmini Leima, President of AMADA, stated that the agitation of AMADA will continue till the State Government reveals the identity of the real owner of the drug seized from Imphal Airport.
She also demanded the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister to resign on moral ground if they are not able to bring out the actual culprits for awarding befitting punishments.
Meanwhile, according to a statement released by Ng Gautam Khuman, Secretary, Publicity and Propaganda, AMADA, the agitation launched by AMADA today was just to remind the State Government that those involved in drug smuggling in the State should be given befitting punishment or else the State Government would be further bombarded by a number of uncontrollable agitations.
On the other hand demanding arrest of the actual owner of the drug seized from Airport and also to re-institute the SIU in the State, many volunteers of different CSOs of the State burnt the effigies of Chief Minister, Home Minister and the DGP at a place 100 metres away from the gate of the Assembly Complex in Chingmeirong today.
