TPR drops, fatalities rise, 100 newly infected

Imphal, October 04 2021: As the state is witnessing lingering threat of Covid-19, the deadly virus has claimed yet another six lives on Monday as government bulletins reported 100 new positive cases out of 1955 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 5.12 per cent against Sunday's 7.43 per cent.

The six fatalities officially confirmed on Monday was the highest in a fortnight as the previous high of five deaths in the same period were recorded on September 24 and 28 .

Though the overall positivity rate in the state is now below 6 per cent, Ukhrul (13.4 per cent), Pherzawl (12.5 per cent), Bishnupur (9.2 per cent) and Imphal East (7.7 per cent) district recorded high positivity rate.

The active caseload has come down to 2202 after 154 patients were discharged from home isolation (43), RIMS (2), JNIMS (15), CCCs (87) and CHICs (7) .

Of the active cases, 356 (16.17 per cent) are in home isolation, 893 (40.55 percent) in CHICs, 602 (27.34 per cent) in CCCs and 351 (15.94 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 65 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 84 are on oxygen support and 24 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 165 patients.

On the other hand, there are four patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Monday evening, 563 beds including 116 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Sunday evening 2870 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 400 beds (29 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 91,746 positive cases and 1494 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 1146 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

The current month has recorded 562 new cases and 13 fatalities.

According to official reports, all the 100 new positive cases (52 male & 48 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (3), JNIMS (3) and other testing centres (94) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (29), Imphal West (30), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (7), Kakching (2), Ukhrul (16), Churachandpur (3), Chandel (1), Senapati (3), Pherzaw] (1) and Kangpokpi (4) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The six fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal East (2), Imphal West (3) and Ukhrul (l).

One of the victims had received first dose vaccine while the remaining five were unvaccinated.

The cumulative number of deaths has reached 1868.The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,21,146 (general population - 1,16,856 and CAPF personnel - 4,290) .

Number of recovered cases is 1,17,076 (general population - 1,12,812 and CAPF personnel - 4,264) and number of active cases is 2,202 (general population - 2,181 and CAPF personnel -21) .

The recovery rate is 96.64 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1062 D-type and 382 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 997 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,25,943 which include 4,93,956 fully vaccinated people.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (41,823), Imphal East (26,791), Thoubal (9347), Churachandpur (10,057), Kangpokpi (2762), Tamenglong (3267), Bishnupur (9036), Senapati (2208), Ukhrul (2782), Kakching (6355), Chandel (2287), Noney (1060), Tengnoupal (1044), Jiribam (1017), Kamjong (867) and Pherzawl (443) .

Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (621), Imphal East (443), Thoubal (169), Churachandpur (159), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (187), Senapati (9), Ukhrul (34), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,042 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,227 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 4,22,324 tests per million population against the national average of 4,11,057 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 1955 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 5.12 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.24 per cent.
