Imphal, November 22 2023:
Peace will eventually return in Manipur if the Government of India addresses the geo-political issues besieging the State and the subsequent narco-politics, said Dr Ch Priyoranjan, a Professor at Manipur University.
He made the remark at the 40th foundation day of All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association (AMEA) held at Hotel Imphal, North AOC today.
Speaking as the special invitee, Dr Priyoranjan said that there are varied reasons why sustaining the idea of Manipur has become even more difficult.
Saying that the concept of ethno-Nationalism and identity politics will start fading once all the Manipuris work under a common interest, he added that a dialogue has to take place among the Manipuris irrespective of their ethnicity to generate a common interest and promote the idea of Manipur.
Conflicts happen in every society but the one which is taking place in Manipur is different and there may be external forces behind it, he added.
Saying that the crisis will worsen the already bad economy of Manipur, the Professor continued that the entrepreneurs and academicians of the State need to take part in the budgetary process of the State to improve the economy.
Director of Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Research and Development (R&D) Cell, Manipur University Professor Ch Ibohal Meitei also attended the programme.
