Imphal, November 22 2023:
Liangmai Naga Council (LNC), Eastern Zone strongly condemned alleged acts of terror by Kuki militants in collaboration with 30 Assam Rifles, targeting the Indigenous Konsakhul villagers on November 20 .
In a statement, LNC claimed that the indiscriminate firing with use of automatic heavy weapons in the village, posing a direct threat to innocent women and children, is grave violation of human rights.
The Council asserted that all conscientious citizens of the country should unequivocally condemn such reprehensible acts committed by the law enforcement agency, purportedly the sentinel of the hill people, in collusion with outlawed organisations.
It is imperative to emphasise that Nagas will no longer tolerate any form of harassment against their people, and unprovoked attacks or carrying of arms openly within its jurisdiction will not be permitted.
In the face of such situations, LNC Eastern Zone will not remain passive observers, the statement stated.
LNC, Eastern Zone, also vehemently condemned the unprovoked attack carried out by unknown miscreants between Haraothel and Kharam Vaiphei village in Kangpokpi district on Monday, resulting in death of two Kuki-Zo people.
"The council has been unwaveringly dedicated to the restoration of peace and normalcy in the region.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the violence in the state of Manipur during this challenging time," the statement added.
Throughout this tumultuous situation, innocent Nagas find themselves at the receiving end of relentless harassment and assault from both warring factions, the council said, while reiterating its commitment to peaceful coexistence with all communities and to maintain a stance of neutrality in the ongoing communal conflict.
