Governor's Cup : Imphal East Fencing team emerge overall champions

Imphal, November 22 2023: Imphal East Fencing team sealed the overall champions title in the 19th Governor's Cup State Level Fencing Championship.

Imphal East team not only claimed the Governor's trophy with a tally of 19 gold, 21 silver and 27 bronze medals but also swept Sinam Nimaichand Memorial Trophy for mini boys with 21 points from 2 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals; Nongmaithem Iboton Singh Memorial Trophy for mini girls with 23 points from 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals; Soraisham Monika Devi Memorial Trophy for sub-junior boys with 17 points from 2 gold, 1 silver and 4 bronze medals; Soraisham Monika Devi Memorial Trophy for sub-junior girls with 15 points from 1 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals; RK Raghumani Singh Memorial Trophy for cadet boys with 13 points from 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals; M Geetarani Devi Memorial Trophy for cadet girls with 23 points from 3 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze; Wakambam Nodiya Singh Memorial Trophy for junior boys from 15 points from 2 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals; Wakambam Ranjit Singh Memorial Trophy for junior girls with 13 points from 1 gold, 2 silver and 2 bronze medals; A Nandakeshor Sharma Memorial Trophy for senior men with 19 points from 2 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals; Hijam Jugeshwar Memorial Trophy for senior women with 26 points from 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze.

They also sealed overall men's team champions trophy dedicated to Thangjam Gulap Singh with 85 points off 9 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze medals and the Thangja Ongbi Memma Memorial trophy for women overall team champions with 99 points off 10 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals.

The valedictory function was graced by Governor Anusuiya Uikey; M Lokendro, president Manipur Fencing Association, and Th Joykumar, ex-president Manipur Fencing Association as dignitaries who also encouraged the athletes.
