Imphal, November 22 2023:
Postgraduate students of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) locked the administrative block of the varsity on Wednesday, protesting against alleged lackadaisical attitude of the university authority towards their grievances.
Speaking to newspersons in this regard, second semester student Laimayum Saly Sharma, who is pursuing her postgraduate in Education, informed that the examination form fill-up fee for PG students was previously fixed Rs 1200 .
However, the fee for this session was notified as Rs 2200 .
As such, the students went to the administrative block for relevant information for the fee hike, especially amidst the on-going conflict.
However, the examination controller was not in his office and could not be contacted on his phone as well.
The students then enquired the deputy examination controller regarding the fee hike.
In response, the deputy examination controller assured of convening a meeting of the examination committee and sought three days' time.
However, those present in the office conveyed that the meeting was on Thursday.
Frustrated over such poor communication among the people working in the office, the students locked the administrative block in protest, she stated.
Recounting the controller's earlier excuse that students are being charged the original fee as the conflict has subsided; she questioned how the conflict has subsided.
She further asked whether the conflict in the state has ended if no incident is reported in Imphal.
If there is truly no conflict, then all necessary examination facilities should be provided and the examination conducted at only one centre without any bias, the student contended.
