'Rapist, murderer' Sureshkumar arrested

Imphal, November 10 2014: The alleged murderer of 18-year old ******* of Wangbal Heirothong in Thoubal district has been arrested by Thoubal district police from Sugnu today.

Thiyam Sureshkumar (22), son of Ingocha allegedly killed his cousin sister after rape in his house on Sunday.

Police are investigating the case to find out how the incident happened.

On the other hand, reacting to the rape and murder of the teenage girl, local people of held a meeting at Tomal makhong community hall at Wangbal Heiruthong and formed a Joint Action committee against the killing of ******* .

The JAC later resolved to expel the family of murdered Sureshkumar forever and also to take over the land and properties belonging to the family by the JAC.

The meeting also decided to urge the state chief minister for necessary action in regard to the murder case.

Around 10 am today, the irate mob of the locality blocked the Imphal-moreh road demanding handover of the accused to the public.

During the road blockade, the protesters broke the glass shields of Maruti van bearing number MN04 A 6383, Maritu Alto bearing number MN01X 9991 .

Local people told this Daily that the accused Sureshkumar is a drug addict using intoxicating tablets.

Meanwhile, post mortem on the dead body of ***** was conducted today at JNIMS in presence of family members.

However, the family members and JAC have refused to accept the dead body until the culprit is provided with stringent punishment.

Protesting against the heinous crime against the girl student, the students of Chaoyaima Higher Secondary school, Thoubal put up banners and shouted slogans such as at its gate.

Later, students of Waikhom Mani Girls College, Thoubal college, DESAM, KSA and AMSU representatives staged a protest rally from Thoubal Yairipok Lamkhai to DC office thoubal.
