CAU liquid bio-fertiliser unit inaugurated

Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Thursday visited College of Food Technology, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Lamphelpat, and inaugurated the newly developed Liquid Bio-Fertiliser Production Unit.
A release by PRO Raj Bhavan informed that the unit aims to produce environment-friendly liquid bio-fertilisers for use in the university and the general people.
The Governor also opened a 'Food Museum of Northeast States' in the college campus where food items from the seven north eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura are displayed.
The museum is being developed as a component of Agro-ecotourism Park in the college campus within the university, it added.
Later, Governor Anusuiya Uikey launched aerial footage of 'Transformation of Wetland to Farming Land at Central Farm by Central Agricultural University, Imphal, and also visited the Food Processing Pilot Plant of College of Food Technology, Lamphelpat and interacted with students and entrepreneurs.
Addressing the media, the Governor commended CAU for taking a key role in transforming the agricultural sector by introducing different techniques in agriculture and allied activities, and continued that different farming systems have been introduced by using bio-fertilisers which will be helpful to the people.
Lauding the efforts made by the vice chancellor Anupam Mishra and his team, she asserted that by opening food museum as a component of agro-tourism, it can attract tourists from the north eastern states to Manipur.
The programme was attended by Anupam Mishra, director of instruction and dean Indira Sarangthem, and registrar Tilak R Sharma along with officials and students of the university.
