Former Minister Onjamang Haokip today inaugurated the N Tukih Lupheng bridge and the Yangoupokpi community hall, constructed by the Government under the BRGF and BADP schemes respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, Onjamang hoped that inauguration of the bridge would facilitate movement of villagers in Yangoupokpi area specially the school going children who have been facing lot of difficulties during rainy season when the area is flooded.
Similarly, inauguration of the community hall would be of great benefit to the villagers when they organise any function or meeting, he added.
Chief of Yangoupokpi village Letngam Lupho, who was also present and spoke at the occasion, informed that settlement in Yangoupokpi area started after the Naga-Kuki clashes in October 1992.The main problem of the villagers is lack of provision for safe drinking water and education facilities.
In the absence of any school in the village, the chief has been reportedly hiring two teachers for the education of the children in his village.
Talking to this correspondent in this connection, Letngam Lupho recalled that there was one LP School in Yangoupokpi area and it used to function very well.
But after the school has been shifted, there has been no educational institution in the vicinity of Yangoupokpi village.
Representatives of Moreh Block Chiefs' Association and Kuki Students' Organisation, Moreh Block were also present at the occasion.
