Senior Superintendent of Police, Thoubal district, Clay Khongsai today denied involvement of any police commando of Thoubal in the Nimai shooting incident that took place on June 10 night last at Chairen Awang Leikai under Sugunu Police station.
In a press clarification, the Senior SP stated that a thorough verification was conducted and found that two youths in a black Pulsar bike had visited the victim's house and intimidated to the relatives of the victim.
Though the locals suspected that the two youths visited Nimai's house just at the time of arrival of Sugunu Police station personnel led by head constable H Chattu for spot verification on June 11 .
On further enquiry amongst the commandos of Thoubal district deployed at various place, it was confirmed that no commando personnel had ventured out anywhere in the area in civil clothes with motorcycle.
The Senior SP further mentioned that Chairel area being remote rural area, district police commandos is not consider safe even visit in one vehicle.
Clay, in his statement also cast suspicion on anti social elements, gangsters and even UGs posing as security personnel might be involved in the incident.
He also narrowed down suspicion on the two gangsters killed on June 12 at Wangoo behind the incident.
The PRO of HQ IGAR(S) also clarified that the 28 Assam Rifles has nothing to do with the incident of shooting of a person as charged by the Asian Human Rights Commission in a report published in a section of the media.
The AHRC without knowing the facts or truth has got the news published which is totally baseless and fabricated to tarnish the image of the Unit, the PRO said.
