Tangkhul bodies decry Govt over appointment of Chief Secretary

Imphal, October 03 2015 : Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong and Tangkhul Shanao Long have expressed displeasure at the manner in which the State Government had appointed the Chief Secretary.

Even after endless public outcries over discrimination at all levels of governance and administration, the Ibobi led government has once again shown its character, a statement said on Saturday.

Their utter disregard and disrespect for the state machineries and their protocols are brazenly flaunted for all to see.

The appointment of O Nabakishore as the Chief Secretary of the state, bypassing many other senior officers who were next in line for the post, is nothing less than a discriminatory act exhibiting complete mockery of government protocols, it said.

The statement said the Nagas of Manipur have bore the brunt of discriminatory acts of the State Government.

Denial of top/key posts in the government has become a routine habit" .

Citing certain stark examples are the denial of the post of Chief Engineer of PHED to LH Verypam, denial of the post of Director General of Police to C Ngahanyui Peter, and now this-Ameising Luikham was the senior most IAS officer slated to succeed PC Lawmkunga after his retirement.

"The so called "Ching-Tam ammattani" phrase is nothing but a lie because we were and never will be one.

The civil bodies condemn such actions of the state government that functions as per the whims and fancies of the currency flinging individuals and not with discipline," the statement said.

Ignoring Ameising Luikham, who is the senior-most officer and next in line for the post of Chief Secretary of the state is a brazen act of discrimination towards the Nagas, it claimed.

Okram Ibobi is hell bent on crushing the Nagas and so it has given the post to Nabakishore who is not even the second or third in line as per their seniority without even having the courtesy to invite Ameising Luikham for the post by virtue of being the senior most bureaucrat after PC Lawmkunga.

"The apex bodies are hereby issuing this statement that corrective measures be put in place at the earliest for which we are willing to go to necessary lengths to ensure justice.

This outright discrimination and injustice has to end," the statement added.
