Imphal, October 03 2015 :
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Saturday said that the outcome of talk held between the State Government and Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) on Friday was positive.
Gaikhangam was talking to reporters on the sidelines of the celebration of 125th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru at the Congress Bhavan.
He said that initiating dialogue is the most important part of the Government's effort to work out a solution to the persisting deadlock over the three Bills passed by the State Assembly on August 31 last.
The Deputy Chief Minister hailed the positive outcome of the talks stating that it was a good step towards ending the long-drawn-out issue.
It was the first round of talks, he said, adding he hoped KIM will be ready for the next round of meeting soon.
A convention "Empowerment of women in politics" was held at the Congress Bhavan in connection with the celebration of 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Nehru.
It was organised by Manipur Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee.
Gakhangam, who is also the President of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), attended the function as the Chief Guest.
He underlined the importance of women empowerment.
The Deputy Chief Minister said there is need to allow women to fully participate in politics and that there should not be mistrust among women.
He noted that Pandit Nehru was a leader who worked for women empowerment in the country.
Nehru was a far-sighted leader and that organizing the convention of women empowerment is relevant to the celebration of Nehru's birth anniversary.
