Jessami villagers on Saturday feted members of Information Centre for Hills Area, Manipur (ICHAM) and journalists after Chief Minister O Ibobi announced various packages and upgradation of some government offices in Jessami area in Ukhrul district yesterday during an official visit to the area.
As the team led by Chief Minister O Ibobi left the place, Jessami villagers credited the ICHAM members and journalists for the bouquets they receive from the government.
Kanmi Wezah, on behalf of the villagers, presented a traditional shawl each to them.
Acknowledging the contribution of ICHAM and reporters in reaching the plights of Jessami area to the ear of the government, Kanmi Wezah said, all the development plans announced by the government are possible due to the contribution of the ICHAM volunteers led by its president N Rajendro (Boi) and the media persons.

He said, the people of Jessami area come to know now about the role and reach of the media.
The people are now obliged to give them cooperation in future.
The people will cherish the contributions of ICHAM in bringing development to the neglected area.
He also assured that the people would continuously assist them in times to come.
Kanmi also acknowledged the contributions of Ministers K Ranjit and N Biren in developing the area.
Stating that the two ministers could not be part of the officials' team, he conveyed that the two ministers had informed them that they would also visit the area in a short time.
Speaking on the felicitation occasion, ICHAM president, N Rajendro said, the joint efforts of the people enabled all the developments that have been taking place in Jessami area.
He clarified that there is no intention to cause rift between Jessami villagers and Melori villagers in Nagaland, but to develop both the entities in equal amount.
Rajendro said, a voice has been raised demanding the resignation of the SPF government if it fails to solve the problems of Jessami villagers.
That was done to show discontentment against the government for letting the interior area unattended.
He further said that had there been a good leader in the last 30/40 years in the state, there would not have been any misunderstanding and enmity between the hill and valley people.
He also expressed thanks to leader of the SPF government, O Ibobi for taking up various developmental projects in the interior areas.
ICHAM advisor, MK Shimray said, at last it is a dream come true for the people of Jessami area.
He credited the achievements to the reporters.
He urged all concerned to work together in future for the welfare and development of the people of the state.
