Imphal, July 12: Reacting against the statement given by the president of the International Mothers' Association, Khuman Leimai to the press yesterday, the KYKL today set the record straight and gave a detailed account of its version.

In a statement, the outfit said that the statement issued by it on June 30 is nothing but the whole truth and recounted that on May 2, a housewife, Wareppam ongbi Sophia and her lover L Surjit were caught red handed by the residents of Wangoi.

Both were punished by the local people.

Instead of being chastised, Sophia took shelter at the residence of one G Yaimabi Devi at Thangmeiband Lilashing Khongnangkhong, an LDC who is close to an non local police officer.

Thereafter Sophia registered a case with the Wangoi police station and 14 persons were arrested.

Three were subsequently sent to jail said KYKL adding that the woman even lodged a case with the MHRC.

The case then came to the notice of the Eastern Command of the KYKL, who then reported all the details to the Central Administrative Officer.

It was to save the local people from being victimised that KYKL stepped in and asked Sophia to withdraw her case.

However the woman instead tried to challenge the stand of the outfit, said the statement adding that Sophia was captured by the outfit on June 11 from Tera.

After thorough questioning, KYKL came to learn that Sophia was being used by Yaimabi Devi for her own personal gains.

On learning this KYKL set the woman free with the understanding that the case would be withdrawn against the local people.

However another youth, W Boicha was arrested by the police on the same charge and KYKL was once again on the trail of Sophia.

Even as KYKL was hot on the trail of Sophia she took shelter with IMMA president Khuman Leima, said the statement and added that the whole picture became clear after Sophia surrendered to the outfit on June 29.On the basis of what Sophia said, KYKL said that Khuman Leima demanded Rs 10,000 for her safety reasoning that she is seen as the mother of UNLF.

As such the KYKL would not do anything.

Altogether Khuman Leima too Rs 7800 from Sophia's family including 10 kgs of rice.

Khuman Leima approached the KYKL not to take up the case of Sophia, but KYKL made it clear that they have not taken up the case but only to make sure that the local people are not harassed by the police following the complaints lodged by Sophia.

After KYKL came to know that Khuman Leima had taken the money from Sophia, KYKL asked the IMMA president to return the said amount and set a deadline of one week from June 30 to clear the money.

To set all things clear, KYKL laid down certain points for all the meira paibis to bear in mind.

In the first place, KYKL will never be able to regard Khuman Leima as an Ima as she cannot qualify to be called a mother who knows and bears the suffering of her children.

KYKL will never accept anyone who tries to pass off as an Ima by donning the garb of a meira paibi.

It is the duty of all the revolutionary organisations to work to cleanse the rot that has besieged society, said KYKL for that is the only way to make the revolutionary movements successful.

KYKL never took up the case of Sophia as its concern was only to ensure that the local people were not harassed.

KYKL also questioned whether it is right on the part of Khuman Leima to take money and rice from the family of Sophia by using the name of an outfit.

Such action demeans the revolutionary movements, observed the outfit.

Henceforth, KYKL will now study the antecedents and action of anyone who takes up any case concerning society, said the state- ment and added that anyone found working his/her selfish ends will be punished adequately.

The outfit also appealed to all the meira paibi lups to identify and root out those self appointed Imas who do nothing except work for their own selfish ends in tandem with non local officers.
