Imphal, July 04 2013:
Taking strong exception against the alleged cold blooded murder of six NSCN(K) cadres at K Songlung village by Assam Rifles personnel, and demanding removal of Assam Rifles from Zeliangrong areas, several Zeliangrong bodies have decided to impose a 24 hour total bandh in Zeliangrong areas on July 9 starting from the midnight of July 8 .
A decision to this effect was adopted at a public meeting jointly organised by Zeliangrong Baudi, AZSU, ZSUM and ZYF at Noney Bazar today.
To remove all AR posts from Zeliangrong areas in particular and Naga areas in general and expedite the Indo-Naga peace process are some other demands/decisions adopted at the meeting.
To institute an independent, impartial SIT to investigate and book the AR personnel involved in the alleged extra-judicial killing was another resolution.
Pointing out that NSCN-IM, NSCN-K and NSCN-KK are under ceasefire agreements with the Government of India, many speakers expressed doubt if the Government of India has directed its armed forces to eliminate 'Naga army' anywhere and any time in order to demoralise both Naga revolutionaries as well as the general public in the near future.
Six cadres of NSCN-K were killed in an alleged encounter with troops of 10 AR at K Songlung village under Sapermeina police station, Senapati district on June 22 .
Even though the PIB(DW) claimed about recovery of a number of sophisticated weapons from the slain cadres, the meeting held at Noney today contended that all the six cadres were shot dead in cold blood after they were called to the AR camp by 10 AR CO Col Ajay Sharma and Maj Gagan and taken into their custody.
At first, four cadres of NSCN-K in civilian fatigues went to the Noney camp of 10 AR on June 18 at the invitation of the two AR officers.
The other cadres joined them on June 21 .
All six of them were killed in an alleged fake encounter the next day at K Songlung village, about 50 Kms away from Noney.
UNC's Committee on Alternative Arrangment vice-president Ashinpou Gangmei said that they already filed a complaint on June 27 with the Prime Minister against the cold blooded murder in order to set up a SIT and probe into the case.
On June 25, Col Ajay Sharma and Maj Gagan claimed that one NSCN-K Captain Rajanglung Kamei surrendered to them But Rajanglung has not been handed over to police till date, Ashinpou said.
The two AR officers were also accused of killing ZUF's retired cadre Gwangshingam Dangmei after pulling him up from his Khumji home in another fake encounter at Shangji village in the intervening night of December 31, 2012 and January 1, 2013 .
Ashinpou further accused 10th AR of taking law into their hands.
Among others, the meeting was participated by NPF Manipur State secretary Athon Abonmai, UNC leaders, Phulindro Konsam of COHR, CORE Director Devbratta Roy, leaders of Longmai Bazar Board and leaders and members of local women societies.
The public meeting was followed by a protest rally.
Later, effigies of Col Ajay Sharma and Maj Gagan were burnt in protest against the alleged June 22 fake encounter.
