Honda to groom youths in hospitality sector

Chief Minister N Biren Singh today inaugurated Project Buniyaad- Aathmanirbharta Ka Aadhar at Classic Grande Hotel, here today.
Project Buniyaad, a skill development programme on hospitality management, is being implemented by the Honda India Foundation along with the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission and Visan Foundation.
The project aims to provide employment to the unemployed youth from the marginal sections of society.
Under this programme, unemployed youth will receive two months training from Visan Foundation in Hospitality Management after which a certificate will be provided from Tourism & Hospitality Skill Council.

Speaking as the chief guest of the function, Chief Minister N Biren lauded and thanked the Honda India Foundation for choosing Manipur for the project.
He said that the foundation has made the right choice as the people of Manipur, specially the youth is known for their talents and hospitality.
While expressing confidence that whatever Honda India Foundation is doing is for the betterment of the youth of the State, the Chief Minister also conveyed his desire for the Honda India Foundation to reach out to the hill districts of the State.
He also addressed the young trainees attending the programme and said that when they go outside the State, they should never forget that they can overcome any challenge in life if they maintain discipline.
He further raised his concern for the security of the young trainees, highlighting a recent report of some youth being ill-treated outside.
The Chief Minister said that the youth should be very careful before joining companies or institutes, and their genuineness and authenticity should be checked.
N Biren also said that irrespective of caste or community, anyone coming into the State after 1961 which is the base year for Inner Line Permit System will be identified and deported.
Honda India Foundation trustee Vinay Dhingra said, "With Project Buniyaad, we envision a brighter future for the youth of Manipur where learning knows no bounds and opportunities are limitless.
It is our sincere belief that by investing in skill development, we are also investing in self development and societal development" .
The hospitality sector often faces challenges due to various factors including economic downturns, global crises and shifts in consumer behaviour, he said.
Additionally, the seasonal nature of some hospitality jobs and the industry's sensitivity contribute to periods of unemployment.
Addressing these challenges requires a combination of supportive training programmes and strategies to enhance the sector's adaptability, Vinay Dhingra said.
The function was also attended by Minister for RD&PR Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Addl Chief Secretary MH Khan, Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission State Mission Director N Bandana Devi, Vinay Dhingra, Trustee, Honda India Foundation, among others.
Trainees also attended the event.
As a part of the function, an MoU was signed between MSRLM and Honda India Foundation.
