Four more die, 159 newly infected

As the threat of Covid-19 continues to persist, the state on Wednesday recorded four new death cases and 159 fresh positive cases out of 2581 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 6.16 per cent against Tuesday's 5.86 per cent.
The active caseload has risen to 1777 from 1724 on Tuesday.
Of the active cases, 303 (17.05 per cent) are in home isolation, 542 (30.50 per cent) in CHICs, 582 (32.75 per cent) in CCCs and 350 (19.70 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 65 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 73 are on oxygen support and 24 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 163 patients.
On the other hand, there are four patients on oxygen support in different GCCs.
As of Wednesday evening, 556 beds including 114 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Tuesday evening 2890 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 398 beds (30 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 92,062 positive cases and 1501 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 1036 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
The current month has recorded 878 new cases and 20 fatalities.
According to official reports, all the 159 new positive cases (77 male & 82 female) are from among the general population and their samples were detected at RIMS (11), JNIMS (22) and other testing centres (126) .
The positivecases are from Imphal East (42), Imphal West (82), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (12), Ukhrul (6), Churachand-pur (9), Chandel (1), Senapati (2), Tamenglong (1), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (1) .
The four fatalities reported in the last 24 hours were from Imphal West (2), Thoubal (l) and Senapati (l) .
Two of them were unvaccinated and two had received first dose of Covid vaccine.
With this, the cumulative number of deaths due to Covid-19 in the state has reached 1875.In the last 24 hours, 102 patients were discharged from home isolation (34), RIMS (6), JNIMS (6), CCCs (55) and CHICs (1).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,21,462 (general population - 1,17,162 and CAPF personnel - 4,300) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,17,810 (general population - 1,13,546 and CAPF personnel - 4,264) and number of active cases is 1,777 (general population - 1,746 and CAPF personnel - 31).The recovery rate is 96.99 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 802 D-type and 191 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.
On Tuesday, 8057 vaccine doses were administered taking the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 12,28,110 which include 5,11,688 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,012), Imphal East (26,858), Thoubal (9353), Churachandpur (10,070), Kangpokpi (2763), Tamenglong (3269), Bishnupur (9051), Senapati (2210), Ukhrul (2796), Kakching (6355), Chandel (2289), Noney (1060), Tengnoupal (1046), Jiribam (1017), Kamjong (868) and Pherzawl (445) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (626), Imphal East (443), Thoubal (170), Churachandpur (159), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (187), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (34), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,143 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,245 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,24,020 tests per million population �against the national average of 4,12,862 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2581 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 6.16 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.23 per cent.
