Twenty polling personnel who were returning from Senvon and Tipaimukh area under Churachandpur district after conducting the first phase of the election to the Autonomous District Councils yesterday have been reportedly stranded at Parbung following heavy landslides along National Highway-150 .
Heeding the SOS of these stranded polling parties, the State Govt has made arrangements for airlifting the polling personnel and ballot boxes by a helicopter of the Indian Air Force tomorrow.
On the other hand, to ensure peaceful conduct of the second phase of the election, the Union Home Ministry has already sanctioned 10 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces for deployment.
Over and above these arrangements, additional forces for deployment will arrive at Jiribam tomorrow.
