Two women passengers died and four other including the driver injured seriously Thursday when the bus they were traveling met with an accident at Lokchou, 14 kilometer from Moreh towards Imphal on the stretch of the Indo-Myanmar section of the NH-39 in Chandel district.
The bus leaving the border town Moreh with passengers for Imphal met with the accident at about 9.30 am while negotiating a corner on the steep of the road in the hill, police report said adding that the two passengers succumbed to their injuries at the spot.
The victims women were identified as Nengkho Baite (45) wife of Pakang of Moreh ward no.7 and Phalkhochin Haokip (47) wife of Jampao Haokip of Chomol village of Tengnoupal sub-division of Chandel district.
Seriously injured passengers who have been referred at hospital in Imphal after administering first aids were Hoipi (55) wife of Jampo of Moreh w/no 9, Halting (36) w/o Lumkhothang of Chamol, Md Ibothem of Lilong (2nd diver) and driver of the bus Md Habidur @ Tomba of Paobitak of Thoubal district
All the injured persons have been admitted at RIMS Hospital and the condition of the driver Tomba was stated to be in serious condition.
