Miscreants killed a man after looting Rs 1 lakh in cash which the victim had in his possession when he left home for buying chicken feed from Churachandpur.
Family with the supports of the locals who formed a JAC has decided not to take back the dead body until government book the culprit(s).
The dead body of Sagolsem Brajalal (46) son of S Budhi of Langathel Moirang Leikai was retrieved from S Pheija village, 19 km from Singhat police station of Churachandpur district yesterday afternoon, at about 2 pm.
He left with Rs 1 lakh in his possession to buy chicken feed on last Tuesday for buying chicken feed.
His dead body was recovered by the police while family members were searching for his whereabouts when he failed to return home, reports said.
Various injury marks were found at the eye, chest and back side of the head while police retrieved the body from the spot.
Signs of tying his legs something like that of rope were also found.
Police as well as family members suspect him being killed after kidnapping by some miscreants from a place.
Police retrieved the dead body after the villagers informed.
The dead body has been transferred at RIMS morgue today.
He was survived by his wife, two children, one daughter and a son.
Regarding the murdered of Brajalal, a public meeting was held at Langathel in which a Joint Action Committee against the killing was formed.
The meeting resolved not to receive the dead body until the reason behind the killing is knew.
A memorandum was also submitted to the Chief Minister through the local MLA.
Representatives of the JAC including the local MLA will meet Chief Minister tomorrow regarding the demand put down by the JAC, locals said.
