Govt urged to provide PDS items to Wangkhei AC denizens

Imphal, July 20 2021: Stating that people of Wangkhei constituency are not getting their entitled benefits amidst the trying times of Covid-19, political activist Thangjam Arun has urged authorities concerned to look into the matter.

Speaking to media persons, Arun noted that Covid-19 pandemic has been causing untold miseries to all sections of the society and forced shutdown of markets and shops in the state to curb the spread Covid-19 cases and fatalities.

Amidst such precarious situation, Wangkhei constituency, which is one of the worst affected by Covid-19 pandemic, is now a constituency without a leader, he claimed.

Many daily wage earners in the constituency, who have been deprived of their livelihood due to the pandemic, are facing serious issues as PDS food grains have not been distributed for the last two-three months on the pretext of confusion among the agents.

The imposition of 10-day curfew in the state for containing the pandemic has added more burden to the people of the constituency, he stated, while adding that daily wage-earning households are on the verge of starvation due to lack of food.

While appealing to the government of Manipur and departments concerned to look into the matter at the earliest, Thangjam Arun called for availing the food grains to the people without further delay.
