Senapati, July 07 2025:
In an outstanding display of community spirit and conservation efforts, a Chinese Pangolin (Manis pentadactyla) was rescued and released back to its natural habitat showing their dedication to preserving the forest and its wildlife.
The rescue operation was a collaborative effort of the Senapati Forest Department and Sadim Pukhri Village Pukhri Authority.
The action was prompted by a distress call from Joseph Kaba, a farmer from Sadim Malingli village, who discovered the Pangolin displaced from its natural habitat.
Upon receiving the report, officials from the Senapati Forest Department, along with Dr Chang L, Veterinary Officer, District Veterinary Office Senapati, rushed to assess the animal's health.
A thorough medical examination was conducted to ensure the pangolin had no underlying conditions or infections.
Once verified by the veterinary doctor, the animal was safely released into the wild, following provisions under Wildlife Protection Act (WPA) 1972 .
