Imphal, June 01 2021:
Expressing serious concern that students of Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) are on the verge of losing their academic career, Pangal Students' Union (PSU), DMU has urged the government to initiate necessary process to uphold interest of the students.
In a release, PSU-DMU general secretary Umar Nongjaimayum pointed out that there are huge loopholes in both administration and academic activities of the university since it has been converted into an institution of higher studies under RUSA.
Prior to Covid-19 second wave, classes were suspended due to FEGOCTA's protest.
After the protest ended, classes were conducted for a few weeks but the same had to be halted and the students deprived of conventional education due to the onset of virulent second wave.
Highlighting some of the issues of the university, Umar contended that BSc 5th Semester exam for colleges under DMU has not been conducted till now despite similar examinations conducted for colleges under the Manipur University (MU).
The DMU failed to take up initiative for conducting either online classes or same mode of examination and internal assignment as taken up by other universities to save the academic session.
Even though 3rd Semester examination for post graduate students under MU has already concluded, the situation in DMU is still uncertain, he added.
Demanding the government to conduct graduate and post graduate examinations under DMU through online mode or through internal assignment so as to save academic career of the students, Umar urged authorities concerned to make sure that online class is conducted.
He further demanded release of marksheet of 2nd and 3rd semester examinations conducted under DMU.
Further pointing out that some reputed universities in others states have started the admission process, he said there strong apprehension among students of Manipur that they might fail to get the opportunity to admit in the said universities.
The students are also worried that the academic session might be lost this year, he said and urged the government to look into the matter and redress their grievances.
