Charges levelled against W Yumnganba baseless: KIMACS

Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts and Cultural Society (KIMACS) has said that the corruption charges levelled against its Thang-Ta teacher W Yumnangba are all 'false and baseless' .
KIMACS also came out strongly for allegedly intimidating the said teacher and subsequently imposing a ban on him by Apunba Manipur Huyen Lalong Lup (AMHLL) .
Charge such as W Yumnganba from Kumbi, who was sent by KIMACS, had allegedly collected Rs 300 each from 29 students of Samballei Sekpil School to ensure them secure good marks in Thang-Ta subject in the recent HSLC Examination conducted by Board of Secondary Education Manipur was floated on social media platforms and AMHLL ordered the said teacher to refund the amount and banned him (Yumnganba) from carrying out any activities related to Thang-Ta for 3 years.
A meeting to discuss the issue was convened today at the residence of one Ph Dhanabir who is the secretary of Development Youth Club, Kumbi Thingel Leikai.
The meeting was also attended by KIMACS's president, Ningthoujam Ajitkumar, students of Samballei Sekpil School, guardians, school's founder and members of KIMACS.
Speaking on the occasion, Ningthoujam Ajitkumar, said that it is very unfortunate that such charges are hurled against the teacher sent by them.
He maintained that KIMACS, with the support of people, had pressed BOSEM and COHSEM for the inclusion of Thang-Ta as a subject, long before the inception of AMHLL.
Stating that there was no misdeed on the part of the teacher, he said that KIMACS will be responsible to take disciplinary actions and any other dealing in case discrepancies come up and no other body/organisation should interfere in the matter.
Moreover, an organisation like AMHLL, which is allegedly run by members of the same family as president and secretary, have no right to impose a ban on a Thang-Ta teacher, he continued.
He also appealed all to ensure the development of Thang-Ta in the State.
Meanwhile, W Yumnganba clarified that he had not collected money from the students to award them good marks but for procurement of practical materials with due consultation with school authority and students.
Asserting that, after buying some equipment, some money is still left with him and will be used for procuring more equipment, Yumnganba said that the concerned association/organisation who have intimidated him to be held responsible in case any untoward incident arises.
Altogether 31 students who appeared in the recent HSLC exam, their guardians, school authority and members of KIMAC also deliberated to resolve the issue.
