At least two women have been killed while four others sustained injuries in a road mishap that took place near Lokchao along Imphal-Moreh road this morning, reports our correspondent.
The bus, fully loaded with timber was heading to Imphal when it accidentally rammed on a hill side between Khudengthabi and Lokchao bridge at about 9.30 am.
The two deceased victims have been identified as Nengkhothing Baite (45) w/o Pakang Baite of Moreh Ward No 7 Canan Veng and Phalkhochin Haokip (45) w/o Jampao Haokip of Chalmol, Tengnoupal.
The corpses have been taken to JNIMS, Imphal for post mortem.
Those injured in the accident have been identified as Hoipi (55) w/o Lenipao of Moreh Ward No 9, Halthing (36) w/o Lungkhothang of Chalmol, Tengnoupal, Md Ibothem of Lilong and Md Habibur Rahaman alias Tomba (35) s/o Md Samsiruddin of Phaobitek.
They have been referred to RIMS after first aid at Moreh Hospital.
Md Habibur Rahaman is the driver of the bus which belongs to one Md Riaz of Lilong.
Meanwhile, denizens of Moreh township, taking serious note of vehicle mishaps caused by overloading goods, have sought attention of the authority concerned to check passenger vehicles carrying goods beyond their capacity.
