Satyabhama's killing case : Govt still unable to trace culprits

Even after 35 hours of recovering the lifeless body of Ningombam Satyabhama, who was killed mercilessly and found abandoned at Wangkhei Loumanbi Loukon under Irilbung Police Station, the authorities concerned of the State Government have not been able to track down the culprits.
The post-mortem examination of lifeless body of Satyabhama was conducted at the mortuary of JNIMS today.
The entire procedure was attended by forensic science experts, members of JAC formed against the killing, Magistrate of Imphal East and police officials.
Video coverage of the post mortem was also taken.
However, the family members and the JAC refused to take back the body.
DGP Y Joykumar, SP and Additional SP of Imphal East, MLA Th Bishwarjit and MLA Th Shyamkumar were also present at JNIMS to take stock of the situation.
According to police report, the identity of the persons involved in the killing of Satyabhama has been established and they will be arrested within a couple of days.
Meanwhile, N Kishan, member of Bashikhong Gram Panchayat has announced that a cash reward of Rs 20,000 to anyone who can provide information about the culprits.
The Pradhans of Bashikhong; Thongju Part I and Thongju Part II have also followed suit by announcing cash reward of Rs 10,000 to anyone who can help in arresting the culprits.
Demanding the State Government to bring out those involved in the killing at the earliest possible, the JAC formed against the killing of Satyabhama had called an indefinite Manipur Bandh since 6 am today.
Though no unwanted incidents have been reported on the first day of the indefinite bandh, yet it has affected normal life of the people in the State.
The indefinite bandh called by the JAC was in total in the State with all shops and establishment remaining closed down.
Educational institutions, both government and private were also remained shut even though education is out of the purview of the ongoing bandh.
Inter village road transport also came to halt and the number of government employees attending the offices was reported low.
Bandh supporters came out on the streets and burnt tyres and woods to block traffic.
People in hundreds came from Kakwa areas in buses to block the roads at Waheng Leikai and Pishum.
They also forced the shopkeepers to close down their shops in market places.
Sit-in-protest demonstrations against the killing were also staged in different parts of Imphal.
A rally coming all the way from Kakwa to Chief Minister's Secretariat was blocked by security personnel at Chingamakhong and forced the rallyists to retreat.
