Wetland Conservative Committee appeals

Waithou Phumnom Pat Wetland Conservative Committee has urged all concerned not to obstruct the ongoing restoration/ development work of Waithou Phumnom Pat.
The appeal was made on Sunday during a press conference jointly organised by Ibudhou Phunal Ningthou Lai Haraoba Committee and Waithou Phumnom Pat Wetland Conservative Committee at Ibudhou Phunal Ningthou Lai Haraobung in Thiyam Konjin.
Speaking to the media, Waithou Phumnom Pat Wetland Conservative Committee secretary Takhellambam Praphulo Meetei said that the Wetland Conservative Committee with the assistance of farmers have been making efforts to protect & conserve the wetland.
He continued that the Directorate of Environment & Climate Change, Government of Manipur of Manipur, has also been conducting training programmes on organic farming, fish farming, etc and providing vermicompost seeds & financial aid to the farmers living in the surrounding areas of the wetland.
Highlighting that wetlands around the world are disappearing at an alarming rate, he appealed to the public to provide their support and cooperation to protect the Waithou Phumnom Pat which is under threat due to climate change, population increase, urbanization, etc.
Praphulo further appealed to all the individuals/ organisations not to obstruct the ongoing restoration/ development work of Waithou Phumnom Pat and resolve any grievance(s) through peaceful dialogue.
