Imphal, December 03 2023:
The displaced people from Moreh, who have been staying in various relief camps since the conflict began on May 3, have appealed to the government to allow them to return to their respective homes.
In this regard, displaced people from Moreh who are staying in the relief camps set up at Wangjing Kodompokpu sports complex and Wangjing Lamding Higher Secondary Complex stated that they have been staying in the relief camps for the past seven months.
The world is increasingly becoming aware of the lies being spun by Kukis against the Meetei community and the Kukis are also realising that the land belonging to the Meetei cannot be taken over.
In addition, Mangkang village, located close to Indo-Myanmar border pillar no 76 and previously inhabited by the Naga community, was renamed Haolenphai after the Naga-Kuki clashes, during which the Naga residents were forcibly ousted from their own village.
The current residents are now leaving for Churachandpur in hordes as they understand that the Meeteis' return to the area is inevitable and not favourable for them.
The recent rally with low number of participants is a sign of the same, the inmates said, and drew the attention of the government for ensuring their return to their original homes.
