ASF outbreak reported in Thamnapokpi

Imphal, December 03 2023:
Fresh outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) in pigs has been detected in a farm belonging to one Pukhrambam Drujendro at Thamnapokpi Mamang Leikai in Bishnupur district.
Following the detection, Bishnupur district magistrate has, imposed restriction on movement of pigs from the place where it is kept within the controlled area and sale of pigs, pork, feed and related items, as containment measures.
In a notification, additional district magistrate Hanjabam Bobby Sharma informed that areas falling within 1 km radius from the epicentre of the disease are declared as "Infected Zone" and those within 9 km radius as "surveillance Zone" for taking up control and containment procedures.
Any violation to the containment measures shall be deemed to have committed an offence punishable under the "Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases in animals Act, 2009", Bobby Sharma cautioned.
