Discussion on rising crime and misuse of modern technologies held

People of Manipur's Churachandpur district headquarters mostly the church elders have started to discuss the prevailing crime situation arising out of misuse of modern technologies such as internet, mobile phone and pagers etc.
The discussion was on during a day long seminar and an open discussion on "Ethical Issues relating to current social issue" of the Indigenous Tribal Peoples situation at Central Lamka Church at Churachandpur,a kuki-chin-mizo dominated south-western district of the state on Sunday afternoon.
The seminar cum discussion was held under the aegis of Evangelical Baptist Convention Church, Central Lamka and Zomi Human Rights Foundation (ZHRF) under the sponsorship of Evangelical Baptist Convention Church, Central Lamka, Manipur, North East India.
"Attending members' openly shared their findings and give suggestions on the prevailing situation of rising crime rate in and around the District", says a press communiqu� of ZHRF's Information and Publicity Department.
"In which, the most emphasizing issues within the discussion was Abusing of Technology such as Internet, Mobile, pagers and so on" .
Participants mostly senior citizens,local pastor, elders and baptist dorcas (women) fellowship members who attended the discussion also expressed the need to have mass participation to fight against the Sexual crime, Abusing of Information technology.
Lecturer in Psychology Ms.Lily Luanmawi presents a topic on 'Problems of Young Children" while Suanmoi Guite talk on Human Rights - Church Perspective.One Siamzading deliberated on the issues relating to the Legal protection of Senior Citizens and basic concept of Rights and Duties.
"We're sensitizing the issue and create awareness about abusing technologies to public at large", says a key functionary of ZHRF.
In Manipur, one can remember the arrest of a youth for possessing and commercially transmitting clips of his girlfriend which had been taken during one of their 'meetings' last year.
This is not the first case of so called MMS scandal in the border state but third of its kind.
But police in the region are yet to be equipped to look into cases of increasing mobile phone-enabled crimes.
However state's police chief recently informed that steps are on to check such actions.
