State Chief Minister, Okram Ibobi has left Imphal for New Delhi to discuss about the announcement of its candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
In the meantime, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) in a meeting held at Irawat Bhawan has decided to support the candidate proposed by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
AICC had informed MPCC President Gaikha-ngam to come, but he did not went to New Delhi due to the meeting of MPCC.
It may be noted that other states have already announced their candidates.
As the election notification is to be announced on March 23 next, AICC informed MPCC president Gaikhangam and State CM Okram Ibobi to come to New Delhi to discuss over the announcement of its candidate for the state.
The meeting of MPCC which was held today evening was participated by MLA, Ministers, Office bearers, congress members, Presidents of District Congress Committees, Presidents of Block Congress Committees and members of various frontal organisations.
Ex CM Rishang Keishing, better known as seasoned politician also attended the meeting.
Rishang Keishing and Gaikhangam appealled the congress members to render their full support to the candidate proposed by the AICC.
The meeting also discuss about the random attacks on congress worker by an underground group.
Many expreessed their opinions about the matter in the meeting, said a person of MPCC.
When asked, MPCC President, Gaikhangam said that MPCC will announce its candidates for the upcoming LS polls in a very short period.
"AICC informed me and CM to come to New Delhi to discuss the matter.
But I did not went there due to the meeting of MPCC here," he said.
In the meantime, after declaring Ex CM W Nipamacha as its candidate for inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency, the Election Affairs Committee of BJP Manipur Pradesh in its meeting today has decided to declare Loli Adani as its candidate for outer parliamentary constituency.
Information about regarding the matter has been sent to national leaders for their reccomendation, said an official.
