Moirang AC MLA highlights welfare measures for internally displaced persons

Bishnupur, October 25 2023: Moirang Assembly Constituency MLA, Thongam Shanti informed that the Government has granted approval for construction of 20 more fabricated homes at Sericulture Training Institute, Kwakta and construction work will begin soon.

The MLA assured that the construction activities will be expedited for shifting of displaced people for the second phase at the earliest.

The MLA was speaking at the occasion of distributing edible items to the displaced people from Tronglaobi Maning at Ibudhou Nongpok Ningthou Apanba Apanbi Tronglaobi Laibung today.

The edible items were distributed to around 215 displaced people who are taking refuge at their friends and relatives places by the District Administration Bishnupur and the MLA for the eight phase.

The MLA further assured to provide all forms of assistance to these displaced people.

He also informed that an inspection visit will be carried out soon to take stock of the condition of abandoned houses of Tronglaobi in consultation with Bishnupur SP for security arrangements for the same.

Stating that the Bishnupur SP informed that deployment of BSF and CRPF personnel have begun at Moirang High Canal, the MLA said that further discussions on security arrangement at Moirang Low and High canal will be held soon with the SP for the welfare of the people of the region.

In view of the setting in of winter season, plans are underway to distribute winter essentials to the displaced people, he added.

Lastly the MLA sought support and cooperation from the public in the initiatives of the Government for restoration of peace and normalcy in the State.
