15 fatalities, 1327 new positive cases reported with 19.37 per cent positivity rate

Imphal, July 21 2021: The state on Wednesday witnessed another record-breaking single day spike of 1327 positive cases out of 6852 samples tested while 15 more people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate also witnessed a spike of 19.37 per cent on Wednesday as compared to 15.48 per cent on Tuesday.

The positivity rate recorded on Wednesday is the second highest after the May 29 record of 20.55 per cent.

The average monthly positivity rate also reached 15.36 per cent from 15.12 per cent on Tuesday.

Active caseload as of Wednesday reached 10,347 out of which 4089 (39.52 per cent) are in home isolation, 3632 (35.10 per cent) in CHICs, 1635 (15.80 per cent) in CCCs and 991 (9.58 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the patients in different hospitals, 125 are in ICU/HDU while 407 patients are on oxygen support and 65 on ventilator/NIV support.

On the other hand, 135 patients in different CCCs are also on oxygen support.

As of Tuesday evening, 50 beds are vacant in government hospitals, 46 in private hospitals, 10 in LF School run by MSF, and 164 in different district hospitals and CHCs.

At the same time, 1288 beds are vacant in different CCCs.

According to official reports, one of the 1327 new cases is a Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) jawan and the remaining 1326 people (662 male & 664 female) from among the general population.

Their samples were tested at RIMS (37), JNIMS (115), District Hospitals (936) and other testing centres (239).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (351), Imphal West (400), Thoubal (124), Bishnupur (77), Kakching (106), Ukhrul (9), Churachandpur (94), Chandel (38), Senapati (10), Tamenglong (35), Tengnoupal (2), Jiribam (17), Noney (27), Pherzawl (2), Kamjong (12) and Kangpokpi (22) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

The State Level Covid-19 Deaths Audit Committee reported 15 Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours and with this the cumulative fatality count has reached 1424.No information regarding age and gender of the victims are provided by government.

The district wise fatalities are Imphal West (3), Imphal East (2), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (6), Chandel (1) and Churachandpur (1).Out of 15 victims, seven had co-morbidities, and one had received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

In the last 24 hours, 1032 patients were discharged from home isolation (407), RIMS (18), JNIMS (16), CCCs (241) and CHICs (350).The state has so far reported 58,650 positive cases and 1050 death cases during the second wave of the pandemic.

The current month witnessed addition of 18,260 new cases and 274 fatalities out of which 7429 new cases and 98 casualties were recorded only in the last seven days.

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 88,050 (general population -84,096 and CAPF personnel - 3,954).Number of recovered cases is 76,279 (general population - 72,392 and CAPF personnel - 3,887) and number of active cases is 10,347 (general population - 10,285 and CAPF personnel - 62).The recovery rate is 86.63 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1676 D-type and 406 B- type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur.

On Tuesday, 24,795 doses of vaccines were administered and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 9,65,342.However, only 1,25,580 of them have got full dose of the vaccine so far.

Apart from Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Churachandpur districts, Kakching is also witnessing an upsurge in new Covid cases.

A total of 51 new positive cases were detected out of 329 samples tested in the district from Tuesday 2 pm to Wednesday 2 pm, registering a positivity rate of 15.50 per cent.

Six cases were detected at Ema Hospital, 10 at Jivan Hospital and 35 at different government RAT sites.

One of the new cases is from Thoubal district while the remaining are residents of Kakching district.

As per report received from DSO Kakching, the cumulative number of infected persons in the district has reached 4969 out of which 4130 have been discharged and 97 have died and 742 are under treatment as on Wednesday.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (30,107), Imphal East (19,588), Thoubal (7409), Churachandpur (7332), Kangpokpi (2136), Tamenglong (2537), Bishnupur (6104), Senapati (1620), Ukhrul (1629), Kakching (4888), Chandel (1543), Noney (705), Tengnoupal (887), Jiribam (880), Kamjong (517), and Pherzawl (168).Fatalities counts in different districts are Imphal West (491), Imphal East (346), Thoubal (130), Churachandpur (123), Kangpokpi (41), Tamenglong (11), Bishnupur (128), Senapati (6), Ukhrul (16), Kakching (86), Chandel (25), Noney (3), Tengnoupal (9), Jiribam (6), Kamjong (3), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs and DSOs of some districts.

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 28,376 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 22,392 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,28,994 tests per million population against the national average of 3,22,179 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.62 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, 6852 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 19.37 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate rose to 8.63 per cent.
