Month-long Thang-Ta Day observation concludes

The month-long observation of Thang-Ta Day under the theme 'Thang-Ta For An Ethical Way of Living' which kicked off on October 16, 2022 came to an end today.
The month-long Thang-Ta Day was organised by the Thang-Ta Observation Committee under the aegis of Kanglei Indigenous Martial Arts & Cultural Society (KIMACS) and various programmes were held widely at schools/institutions/organiza-tions across the State, said a press note by the Thang-Ta Day Observation Committee.
The main valedictory ceremony of the observation was held at St Stephen Higher Secondary School, Hiyangthang today.

Stephen Hr Sec School Principal and Pukhrambam Inaobi, secretary SMC St.
Stephen School graced the function as the presidium members.
The dignitaries while speaking at the occasion emphasized the importance of promoting Thang-Ta, the indigenous and unique artform of the State and the need of inculcating its discipline and values in day to day life for a healthy and prosperous society.
They also called for collective efforts to strive for the development of this artform which is a significant part of the culture and tradition of the State.
It may be noted that many organisations and Thang-ta lovers have been sincerely striving for the development of the artform where many defence and fighting tactics have been incorporated which were practiced by the forefathers.
To ensure that such unique and rich legacy of Thang-Ta is carried forth to the upcoming generations, it has been urged by many that Thang-Ta should be included in the school curriculum and be studied as a subject.
