Imphal, April 13 2025:
The Young Kuki group has issued outright rebuttal to the Foothill Naga Joint Action Committee (FNJAC), accusing it of spreading false narratives and making illegitimate land claims that threaten peace and distort historical facts.
In a statement released Sunday, the group condemned FNJAC's recent press release as "baseless, misleading, and provocative", arguing that the contested land rightfully belongs to the Kuki people based on deep-rooted ancestral ties passed down through generations.
"We remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguard our land, history, and identity," the Young Kuki stated, rejecting what it called repeated attempts by FNJAC to provoke conflict through distortion of facts.
The group challenged the Liangmai community, whose claim FNJAC backs, to produce "credible and verifiable" land ownership documents, while dismissing what it described as forged papers and unreliable oral histories.
While asserting that Kukis are not aggressors but guardians of their territory, the group warned against any encroachment, saying such actions would be met with a "measured response" .
It emphasised its support for peaceful dialogue and accused FNJAC of escalating tensions with inflammatory speech and derogatory language.
The statement criticised FN-JAC for allegedly portraying state and central authorities as inactive, saying such accusations reflect an alarming disregard for the Indian Constitution.
It urged the committee to act responsibly and avoid turning a local dispute, particularly involving the Konsaram/Konsakhul area, into a broader communal issue.
Calling the land claims "deceitful" and "dangerous", the Young Kuki urged authorities and stakeholders to address the matter seriously and ensure that peace is pursued without compromising justice.
