Kakching, June 01 2025:
The HR Manager of Ema Hospital, Kakching, Naorem Priyari has strongly refuted the allegations made by the family members of Tontang Khamran who alleged that Tontang Khamran died due to utter negligence of the hospital staff.
Speaking to the media persons, HR Manager of the hospital, Naorem Priyari stated that Tontang Khamran, aged 65 of Khangsim village was admitted to the hospital at around 11.15 pm of May 23 for chest pain.
But due to the request of the family members, he was shifted to another hospital.
However, he succumbed to his ailment after a few hours of treatment.
We express our deep sorrow at the passing of Tontang, she said.
Stating that the truth of the incident can only be revealed after a thorough investigation by a specialist medical board, she condemned the allegations made by the family members of Tontang as "baseless" .
"The allegation made by the patient party that hospital authority kept the patient back unnecessarily for money is unfounded.
The hospital has never done such an act in the past and it has always served the underprivileged patients with dedication.
The hospital has numerous records of referring patients to higher centres on time with their health being the priority", asserted Priyari.
Regarding Tontang's treatment, she claimed that the hospital charged "merely Rs 7,090" for medical investigations which were all routine examinations and not unrelated diagnostic tests.
Stating that the hospital offered to allot a nurse to accompany the patient in the ambulance on their way to Shija Hospital, Priyari said that the family members allegedly declined the offer stating that the patient was stable and also signed a consent form agreeing to bear all possible risks en route.
Condemning the allegations, Priyari maintained that the incident has let down the morale of all the doctors, nurses and staff who are in the medical line and performing their duties.
The HR Manager also appealed to the people of Manipur to stop blaming the hospitals every time a patient dies without corroborating the facts.
