Indo-Myanmar car rally flagged off

Imphal, March 13 2012:
Upon arrival of the Indo-Myanmar Friendship car rally jointly being organised by North East Federation on International Trade and Assam Speed and Adventure Club, Guwahati at Imphal today, the team has been further flagged off to Myanmar from Hotel Imphal.
The car rally, which started from Guahati on March 11 and reached Imphal today, was flagged off for its further journey from Hotel Imphal by MLA T Mangibabu and Chief Secretary DS Poonia this morning.
In all, 16 cars and 70 individuals both from India and abroad, are participating in the rally which plan to cover a distance of 5000 Kms across Dimapur, Kohima, Imphal, Moreh, Tamu and Mandalay.
According to information received by Hueiyen Lanpao, the car rallyists have reached Moreh by evening today and they would be entering Myanmar tomorrow and proceeding for Tamu.
The car rally is being supported by Ministry of External Affairs, Home Affairs and the Governments of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
The rally aims at bringing good relation between Myanmar and the North Eastern States of India in terms of culture, tourism and trade.
The rally would also cover the interior parts of Myanmar.
