National Immunization Day begins all over

Imphal, January 31 2021: National Immunization Days (NIDs) held across India twice a year, with the Government of India setting out to give two drops of oral polio vaccine (OPV) to every child in the country under the age of five was also launched across the State today.

Senapati
The District Family Welfare in collaboration with District Health Society launched a programme on Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization/National Immunization at Senapati bazar under the theme "Let the victory over Polio continue with two drops of life".

Speaking on the IPPI/National Immunization Day, Th Kirankumar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner/Chairman, District Health Society, Senapati stated that immunization by polio vaccine should be made mandatory for every child till they attain 5 years of age.

He mentioned that the polio vaccine immunization is one of the successful stories all across the country and appealed to everyone to take utmost care of polio disease.

Dr M Pfokreho, Chief Medical Officer/Director, District Health Society, Senapati in his presidential speech stated that polio should be handled with immense care like that of COVID-19.He appealed to the parents and health workers to immunize children below 5 years of age on time and stated that if polio vaccine is taken properly, 99.9% of the children could be prevented from contracting the disease.

Dr M Sokha-a, Medical Superintendent, District Immunization Officer, Senapati in her keynote address stated that all children below 5 years of age would be receiving two drops of polio vaccine all over the country today.

India has been certified a Polio Free country in the year 2014, but polio vaccine is.

still given to the children below 5 years of age, she added.

Dr M Sokha-a further stated that 40003 children would be taking 2 drops of polio vaccine at 391 different booths in Senapati district.

The vaccines given for immunization are bOPV and IPV starting as 0, I, II, III, booster with bOPV and I&II dose with IPV.

During the programme, Th Kirankumar, DC, Senapati, Dr M Pfokreho, CMO, Senapati and Dr M Sokha-a, MS, DIO, Senapati gave two drops of polio vaccine to children below 5 years of age.

The programme was attended by DLOs, Medical officials, Health Workers from ASHA and others.

Thoubal
National Immunization Days (NIDs) was also launched at Election Counting Hall in DC Office Complex, Thoubal district by Deputy Commissioner Thoubal, N Bandana Devi, IAS, today.

The Polio Immunization drive was jointly organised by District Health Society and District Family Welfare Officer Thoubal under the National Health Mission and will go on till February 2.Addressing the programme, N Bandana Devi stated that the drive organised under the theme "Let the victory over Polio continue with two drops of life" will aim to immunize 30,500 children for Thoubal district.

To achieve the target, 15 mobile teams, 329 polio booths and 14 transit booths have been opened along with 66 Supervisors and 9 District Supervisor teams, she added.

N Bandana Devi also mentioned that in order to carry out the drive successfully, 266 ASHA, 500 Anganwadi workers, 450 Health workers and 50 social workers have also been contracted.

The programme was attended by Chief Medical Officer Thoubal, Dr N Jayantakumar; District Family Welfare Officer Thoubal, Dr Ksh Memcha Devi; District Health Society Thoubal, Programme Manager Ch Basanta and other official staff.

Moreh
Similarly, National Immunization Days for Moreh Block was also launched at Primary Health Centre Moreh by District Health Society Tengnoupal under the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

The programme was attended by SDC Moreh, Brajendra; Chief Medical Officer Tengnoupal, Dr Kh Gojen; Primary Health Centre Moreh, MO incharge Dr Kh Santikumar and 43 Assam Rifles Dr Abhishek Singh as presidium members.

The target of the immunization drive for Moreh Block is 3050 children.

Tamenglong
Armstrong Pame, Deputy commissioner and Chairman of the District Health Society Tamenglong today launched the pulse polio programme for 2021 by administering polio drops to children less than five years of age at the residential bungalow of Deputy Commissioner, Tamenlong.

Dr Rajendra Kumar Singh, SRTL, WHO and Dr Chambo Gonmei, CMO, DMD/DHS, Tamenglong attended the program as presidium members.

Similarly, Assam Rifles Battalion under the aegis of 22 Sector AR/IGAR(E) also organised a pulse polio drop programme in Tamenglong today.

Polio drops were given to children below five years of age in the camp set up by the medical team of the unit.

The Commandant and the Medical Officer of the unit also addressed the people about the current COVID-19 scenario.

Bishnupur
Pulse Polio Immunization programme was also launched today at Bishnupur District Hospital Conference Hall with a target of 24,997 children by District Health Society Bishnupur and District Family Welfare Bishnupur.

The programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner to DC Bishnupur, L Boby; Bishnupur District Chief Medical Officer, Dr L Gojendro and Bishnupur District Hospital, Medical Superintendent, Dr N Bino as presidium members.

District Malaria Officer Bishnupur, Dr Nabakishor, officials of District Medical department, ASHA facilitators, anganwadi and health workers also attended the programme.

Kangpokpi
Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) was also launched today at District Immunization Office Complex, Kangpokpi DHQs by District Health Society - NHM, Kangpokpi district with the target of 18,967 children.

Deputy Commissioner, Kangpokpi, Somorjit Salam, IAS formally launched the IPPI in the presence of Dr Nilankanta Singh, Chief Medical Officer, District Hospital Kangpokpi; Dr J Touthang, District Immunization Officer, Kangpokpi District.

The launching programme was also attended by local civil body leaders, children and their parents apart from officials of the Health Department, ASHA coordinators, Anganwadi workers and other stakeholders.
