State level workshop on 'Juvenile Justice Amendment Act, 2021 and Rules' held

Social Welfare Director, Ngangom Uttam has stressed on the need to grant bail to criminals who are minors after thoroughly analysing the bail provisions.
He made the above statement while speaking at the one day State level workshop on 'Juvenile Justice Amendment Act, 2021 and Rules' held at Manipur Press Club today.
The workshop was organised by National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in association with Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR).
Expressing that many convicts are applying for bail taking advantage of the age which are in record under the Juvenile Act, he appealed to the experts to hold discussions to amend such provisions in the interest of all.
In view of the different communities of the State who speak different languages and have a separate tradition of their own, Ng Uttam emphasized on the need of establishing more children's home to create a comfortable environment for a child who is in need.
He also mentioned about the adoption measures in the State which needs to be streamlined for a smooth and easy adoption process in the interest of the child and the parents who want to go for adoption.
The loopholes in the system need to be checked and remedial measures should be taken to protect the children from falling prey to unwanted outcomes.
Manipur State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Chairman, Phurailatpam Manibabu, Member Secretary Regina Hongray also attended the programme as presidium members among others.
