Many continue to extend aid to relief camps in Jiribam

Humanitarian aid continues to pour into relief centres across Jiribam district which have been sheltering displaced victims in the wake of the recent violence in the district.
In continuation of extending aid to the displaced victims taking refuge at various relief camps, Manipuri Kanba Lup (MAKAL) Cachar and Manipuri Youth Front of Assam (MYFA) provided edible items, clothes and many useful items for children to the inmates of the relief camp of Bidyanagar Multipurpose Sports Complex indoor hall.
Speaking at the occasion, MAKAL Chairman RK Sanahal said that the Manipuri diaspora took the initiative to extend aid to the relief camps in solidarity with the pain and suffering of these affected people.
'We will continue to provide all forms of possible support to the Manipuris affected by the violence', he said.
Khangabok Student Union president Kiran Thokchom raised serious concern that appropriate actions have not been implemented by the authorities concerned to resolve the ethnic violence which has been going on for more than a year in Manipur.
Further he expressed discontentment that the displaced people are not given due attention and they are facing immense challenges due to lack of healthcare and hygiene facilities in the relief camps.
In a similar initiative, a team of Thawai Mirel led by its convenor Thongam Dara Singh accompanied by co-convenor Paonam Sanahanbi Devi; advisor Tongbram Theba Devi and Medical team member Kshetrimayum Joykumar Singh visited the relief camps and examined the condition of these relief camps.
In view of the problems faced by the displaced victims, Thongam Dara Singh while speaking to media persons urged the Government to take up stringent measures for resettlement of the displaced at their native land by providing adequate security rather than keeping them in relief camps.
Meanwhile, Salaicha Pibarel Punsi Marup (SPPM) an organization based in Imphal and founded under the aegis of Keirao AC MLA Lourembam Rameshwor Meetei also visited various relief camps and took stock of the situation.
Furthermore, Rainbow club and Islamabad Meira Paibi of Islamabad region under Dibong Gram Panchayat handed over rice contributed by the residents to the relief camp of Bidyanagar Multipurpose Sports Complex.
