RIMS hosts CME and workshop

The DIAMOnDS Project under the aegis of DHR-ICMR organized a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program and a two-day hands-on workshop on Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor (EGFR) mutation analysis of lung cancer at Banting Hall and the Department of Pathology, RIMS, Imphal, According to a press release, the event took place on January 13 and 14.The program emphasized the critical role of EGFR testing using molecular methods in the diagnosis and subsequent targeted therapy of lung cancer.
Renowned experts, including Professor Gayatri Devi Pukhrambam and Dr Ayan Dutta from QIAGEN, highlighted the advancements in molecular diagnostics and their relevance in improving patient outcomes.
The CME was inaugurated by Professor G Sunilkumar Sharma, Director of RIMS, while the keynote and welcome address were delivered by Professor Sushma Khuraijam, Head of the Department of Pathology.
The event saw active participation from faculty members, junior doctors of RIMS and JNIMS, as well as pathologists from State Health Services.
Senior residents and postgraduate students engaged in the hands-on workshop, gaining valuable practical experience.
The CME also highlighted the free molecular testing services for lung and breast cancer available free of cost at the Department of Pathology, RIMS.
The organizers encouraged the public to take advantage of these free services, which aims to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcomes.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Rajesh Laishram, the organizing secretary, who expressed gratitude to all the participants and contributors.
