Imphal, June 15 2023: Many continue to extend relief items to those who have been displaced by the recent outburst of communal conflicts in the State.

Manipur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI) today handed over relief materials (medical aid) to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Medical Superintendent, Dr Khumukcham Lokeshwar.

Speaking on the occasion, Haorakpam Anil, secretary MCCI, shared that the violence which broke out on May 3 last has led to irreparable loss of many lives and properties in the State.

"Manipur, which was once known for its industry, business, trade & commerce, and tourism is now seen as a place of violence & conflict by the whole world", he added.

He appealed to all the communities to set aside their differences and come together to restore peace & normalcy in Manipur.

Anil appreciated the doctors, nurses and staff of JNIMS who have been working tirelessly to provide necessary medical treatment to the people injured by the ongoing violence.

He mentioned that the medical items were provided to help the hospital in providing medical care to the victims of the present unrest.

Anil also asserted that MCCI will continue to extend relief materials and medical items to shelter camps providing refuge to displaced people and hospitals.

Dr Kh Lokeshwar extended his gratitude to MCCI for the medical items which will be useful in saving many precious lives.

He also shared that JNIMS has made necessary arrangements to provide medical care to all the people hurt/ injured during the ongoing violence.

Similarly, Meetei Pukei Lup and Athouba Ningsing Lup, Lakhipur, Cachar, Assam in collaboration with RIFPCO today extended monetary aid to the shelter camp opened at Akampat Ideal Girls College.

Displaced people from Churachandpur and Moreh are currently taking refuge at the shelter camp set up in the College.

To the people affected by the ongoing conflict, Ram Lal Paul High School 1984 Matric Batch Alumni also provided relief materials to the village defence volunteers at Nongshum, Imphal East.

Lions Club of Nambol, Lions Club International, District 322-D also distributed relief materials to the people displaced by the present conflict at various places.

A team led by Dr P Sanajaoba Singh, zone chairperson, Zone I, Region II and Dr Kh Iboyaima Singh provided the relief materials at Nambol Sabal Leikai, Nambol Oinam and Leimaram Relief Camp.

Moreover, All Uripok Apex Body also distributed relief materials to the people taking refuge at the shelter camp opened in Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Awasiya Vidyalaya, Lamboikhongnangkhong.

About 90 displaced persons from Kangpokpi, Churachandpur and Serou are taking refuge at the shelter camp set up by Indigenous Development Mission.

In continuation of the humanitarian aid extended to the people displaced by the present unrest, Uchekon Youth Volunteers' Organisation and Uchekon Leikai Chaokhat Thourang Nupi Lup, Changangei Uchekon, today provided relief materials to 14 displaced families who are currently taking refuge at Changangei Uchekon.

Uchekon Youth Volunteers' Organisation has also extended its deepest respect to the brave heroes who have laid down their lives during the ongoing conflict.
