JAC of affected landowners of Shangshak-Khambi villages demand resurvey of NH-102A

The Joint Action Committee of the Private Land Affected Owners Association of Shangshak-Khambi villages has demanded for immediate re-survey of the NH-102A (SSK-TNP) for ensuring fair & justice with regards to compensation.
The JAC secretary, Phaningshang Ningshen speaking to this correspondent, expressed about the deprivation meted out against the private landowners of the area villages.
According to him, they were dissatisfied with mapped surveys and doubted sincerity.
He stated that most of the private landowners were not informed while conducting the survey and were totally ignorant about the survey that were conducted.
Stating that they have strong apprehension to the DC, Kamjong and SDO Phungyar for clandestine work.
The affected land owners Association have strongly contested and opposed the meeting resolution of May 7 chaired by DC Kamjong, Rangnamei Rang Peter to dismantle existing structures from Koso to Sorbung village without any consultation with the land owners.
"Although land revenue belongs to the headman, the land is privately owned and without the approval of the land owner nothing can be done," stated Phaningshang.
The present road proposed NH-102A (SSK- TNP) from Shangshak to Khambi (BRTF/PWD) has not been compensated.
And in this connection, the land affected private landowners Association have formed a Joint Action Committee to safeguard the land and their rights, said Ningshen Notably, the JAC is composed of 13 villages ( Shangshak, Koso, Leishi, Leiting, Phalang, Shakok, Phungyar, Chunga, Loushing Khunthak, Alang and Khambi) for package-1 from 0-38.7 km stretch.
The land affected owners strongly denounced the unfriendly meeting resolution taken by DC, stating that there was no consultation with land owners.
The affected landowners detected flaws in the surveyed reports, and demanded rectification for inclusion of the missing components in the compensation.
Although the villagers welcomed the highway construction, they will not support the construction of the highway at the villages without sorting out the grievances of affected land owners, asserted Ningshen.
