Former state Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam today said that despite betting odds, students should work hard to become a worthy pillar of future.
Speaking as chief guest at Thangmeiband Kendra Development Committee organised award distribution function to the students and sportspersons with best performance, the opposition leader in the state Assembly said that in the trouble ridden state of Manipur, students need work hard keeping behind all odds in front of them.
Manipur had been a trouble ridden state since early period and the same trend is still continuing with bandhs, blockade and agitations almost everyday.
Conditions of road communication, power supply system and availability of safe drinking water etc.
are still in bad shape.
Due to bad power supply condition, many are facing handicap in performing their tasks, he observed.
Despite all this, considering that education is utmost important for push up the state towards development, education is a must, he asserted and advised the students to rectify themselves the habit of non-keeping of time which is a culture of the Manipuri society.
It is laudable when the pass percentage of students in this year's exams was high compared to the disturbances faced by the students last year.
In the function organised by the Thangmeiband Development Committee, students and sportspersons hailing from Thangmeiband Assembly constituency were honoured with awards.
President of the organising committee Ch Dinachandra presided over the function.
Vice-president of NCP and president of Thangmeiband Athletic Union, Kh Bira attended as guests of honour of the function.
A total of 37 students of Thangmeiband Kendra who passed in first division in the recently declared HSLC exam, 80 students in HSSLC exam were honoured with cash award and certificates.
Sportspersons with excellent performances during last year were also honoured.
