Mass prayer for peace and harmony held

A mass prayer was held today at Urup Khunou Kabarstan Masjid in Imphal East district to pray for restoration of peace & & harmony in Manipur.
The event was organised by the Peace and Reconciliation Coordinating Committee (PRCC), a conglomerate of Pangals (Manipuri Muslim) from Keirao Makting, Urup and Kiyamgei Muslim.
Speaking to media persons, PRCC chairman MI Khan alleged that the present unrest was caused by communal politics and divide & rule policy of the Government of India.
He continued that if the Central Government does not end the violence soon, Pangals will also join the fray and launch agitations to demand Pre-Merger Political Status in Manipur.

Stating that the Central & State Government should be held accountable for all the innocent people who have lost their lives in the conflict which broke out on May 3 last, MI Khan appealed to the Government to take immediate action to end the violence and restore normalcy in Manipur.
Moreover, Laipham Khunou Apunba Meira Paibi also organised a mass prayer on Thursday night for restoration of peace in the State at the premises of LKYDA in Imphal East.
Womenfolk also observed two-minute silence to pay tribute to the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the integrity of Manipur during the present unrest.
As part of the event, a traditional ritual was also conducted, adhering to the Meetei tradition.
This ceremony symbolised the collective desire of the community to restore peace in the region, said a member of the Meira Paibi while speaking to the media.
A large number of women participated in the event showcasing the unity and determination of the people to strive for peace.
