FCI seeks help from people

Manager (Movement) of FCI Divisional Office, Imphal Thiyam Gambhir Singh has sought cooperation from the people in transporting rice along Imphal-Jiribam road amid the bad weather condition and unrest in Manipur.
Addressing the media at Moirangkhom today, Th Gambhir continued that FCI has nine depots in Manipur including at Sangaiprou.
He also said that there is enough stock of rice that can last for about 84 day at the closely guarded FCI depots.
Saying that the FCI has been transporting rice to the State through National-Highway-37 (Imphal-Jiribam road) day and night to maintain the stock at its deports, he continued that the Centre and the State Government has also given 30,000 MT of rice as an additional grant for three months (June to August).
Saying that the allocated rice has to be brought to Manipur to make sure people get it, he sought the assistance of the meira paibi, CSOs and the public in ensuring safe movement of rice carriers.
The rice would be stocked up first at its designated depots on priority basis, Th Gambhir conveyed.
