133rd Manipur Police Raising Day observed with Run For Peace, community feast

The 133rd Manipur Police Raising Day was observed in Bishnupur district today with a Run For Peace organised by Bishnupur District Police today at District HQ Bishnupur.
The run was flagged off from Keinou by Ksh Ravikumar, IPS, SP, Bishnupur.
A total of 150 persons including youths of the district, CSO members, Central Security Force and police personnel participated in the race.
Additionally, a separate race for womenfolk of Bishnupur Akoiba Apunba Lup (BAAL) was flagged off by the Bishnupur SP from Bishnupur Forest Gate with the finishing point at SP Office Complex, Bishnupur.
Sixty women took part in the race.
Speaking on the occasion, Ksh Ravikumar, IPS said that Bishnupur has been deeply impacted by the ongoing crisis and continues to remain a sensitive zone.
He said that the Run For Peace campaign was organised in Bishnupur to spread the message of peace and restore normalcy in the trouble-tom State.
The Bishnupur SP thanked everyone concerned who participated in the event and helped make the run a grand success.
Notably, Laishram Parihanba Meitei, an internally displaced person from Torbung Bangla bagged the first position.
Meanwhile N Tokyo and O Daristar were declared the second and third prize winners.
Parihanba revealed that he is currently staying at Sandong Relief Camp waiting for the conflict to be resolved.
He expressed joy at being provided an opportunity to take part in the race and hoped for peace and harmony to return in Manipur.
The winners were awarded a cash prize, memento and certificate.
Consolation prizes and certificates were also distributed to the 4th to 1 Oth place winners and the two youngest athletes.
Simple gifts were also presented to the participating womenfolk of BAAL today.
The event was graced by L Bikram, IAS, DC Bishnupur; Hopson Sapam, CO, 2nd IRB; Ksh Ravikumar, IPS, SP Bishnupur as well as CAPF, Army and District Police officials.
Additionally, the Kangpokpi Police today celebrated the 133rd Manipur Police Raising Day at the premises of the District Superintendent of Police bringing together police personnel, local leaders and civil society to honor the legacy and valor of the Manipur Police.
The highlight of the celebration was a "Bada Khana" (community feast) organized for all personnel, including CRPF members stationed in the district.
In a gesture of humility and solidarity, IPS Manoj Prabhakar, SP Kangpokpi, personally led the distribution of food alongside his subordinate officers, emphasizing the bond between the leadership and their teams.
The scene reflected not just the unity within the force, but also the deep respect shared among officers and their ranks.
Several local bodies, including the Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kuki Women Union Sadar Hills, and various civil society Organizations, along with the District Administration led by Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, DC Kangpokpi, actively participated in the festivities.
Addressing the gathering, SP Manoj Prabhakar highlighted the profound historical importance of the day.
"One hundred and thirty-three years ago, on this very day, the Manipur Rifles Battalion was formed, marking the beginning of a force that has become synonymous with courage, professionalism, and unwavering integrity," he remarked.
He emphasized that the Manipur Police have not only safeguarded the people of the State but have also played a pivotal role in maintaining law and order, which has been a key driver of Manipur's economic and social development over the decades.
"We stand here today, not only to honor our history but to renew our commitment to ensuring a safe, secure, and prosperous future for all citizens of Manipur," Prabhakar added, underscoring the force's dedication to upholding justice and peace in the face of growing challenges.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge to work tirelessly for the welfare of the people, ensuring that the values of service, integrity, and courage that have defined the Manipur Police for over a century continue to inspire future generations.
