Lamka, July 12 2010:
The Churachandpur Women Organization today urged authority concerns to look into the matter of hiking prices of essential commodities while requesting the traders to roll back prices of goods that have hike during the economic blockade on the NH 39 and 53 in the state.
A statement of the women body stated that in spite of the availability of food grains at the Food Corporation of India at Imphal, Churachandpur district has so far not receiving its district quota of rice under he Public Distribution System (PDS).
The scarcity of rice and the exorbitant price of rice which sold at Rs.27 for Andro rice, it lamented.
Government must check the trends of increasing prices of essential commodities immediately, the organisation demanded saying that goods are selling in the district triple the actual prices, they demanded lamenting when prices remains sky rocketed with any reason.
Bandhs and strikes do not offer a panacea to all the problem the state is facing.
If it were so the state would have been heaven, the statement further observed appealing to all civil societies, student bodies, philanthropic organization, etc not to resort to bandhs and strikes in the future.
Since all the problems are not to be solving by strikes and force blockade by proper negotiation, the statement added.
The CJWO also appeal to all local traders to reduce the prices of essential commodities accordingly to the minimum level possible, since with the present context of prices like Rs.28 for local rice, many common men find it hard to manage for a square meal a day.
The Joint women Organization therefore appeal to the state government to look into the matter and try to find an amicable ways for normalization of prices in the state.
