Imphal, September 27 2025:
The Government of Manipur and the Government of India shouldn't test the patience of the people who have suffered for more than 2 years, Sorokhaibam Sanjoy, newly elected president of the All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has said, denouncing the Governments for not implementing any concrete steps to resolve the protracted Manipur conflict.
S Sanjoy was elected as the president of AMUCO today replacing Nando Luwang.
The new president, and other members elected today including general secretary Pratap Leishengthem will hold their office for a period of 2 years till 2027 .
The new office bearers took oath at AMUCO's office at Kwakeithel Akham Leikai.

Speaking after the oath taking ceremony, the new president, S Sanjoy said Manipur, after merger with India, has suffered with its society fragmented.
He accused the Government of India of continuing with colonial policies of the then British rulers in Manipur even after independence and lacking the will to resolve the crises facing the State.
If willing, the Government of India can resolve the Manipur crisis immediately, he said.
The Government of India has been seen resolving issues in Kashmir within 2-3 days.
However, in a State like Manipur where a record number of security forces have been deployed, the Government of India seems to have chosen to ignore the issues by taking sides and engaging in a proxy war.
This is strongly condemned, he said.
In a country that is celebrated as the world's largest democracy, the Government has allowed the May 3, 2023 conflict to continue till today with thousands of displaced people still staying in relief camps, he said.
While people were expecting the Government to resolve the conflict quickly and swiftly, it didn't act as expected.
The Prime Minister visited the strife-torn State only recently after more than 2 years since the conflict broke out, he added.
AMUCO has always stood firmly against any divisive policies based on religion and ethnicity.
The Government of India shouldn't test the patience of the people, Sanjoy said.
The June 18, 2001 burning of the Manipur State Assembly building and the recent burning of the Nepal Parliament are testament to the power, people wield and their anger against Government inefficiencies, he added.
With the imposition of the Presidents Rule, and refusal to form a popular Government, the Government of India has denied the people of the State their rights to have their own Government, Sanjoy said.
What Manipur needs are strong leaders who aren't puppets of the Government of India.
The Manipuri civilization is one of the oldest and the State's more than 30 lakh population will not agree to the Government of India disrespecting them, he added.
Manipur has vast potential and resources.
It shouldn't beg for aid and grants from the Centre.
The State should instead strive to become self-reliant, he said.
He also spoke about other problems including frequent floods occurring in the State.
Manipur at present is suffering on all fronts.
The issues facing the State have affected its economy, education and all other sectors, he said.
He claimed the floods occurring in Manipur are man-made disasters.
The floods have occurred frequently due to failure of the Government and departments in taking up timely and appropriate measures, he said.
